Today is one of those days that my mind has not stopped going for a minute. The only problem with that is I can't get anything accomplished..HELP PLEASE  tell my mind to be quiet. Not only has my mind been running all day I can't keep up with it I'm tired. Have you ever felt like that? Welcome to the wonderful world of lupus.
I'm not saying that everyone that goes through this has lupus , but it's something I go through. Each day is an adventure that's for sure.

DO YOU SUFFER FROM MOUTH SORES

I get mouth sores every so often. Usually it means I'm flaring or going to flare.mouth sores can be very painful and make it hard to eat or even talk at times. Try not to eat anything spicy or with tomato sauce because that can aggravate the sores. I used to wash my mouth out with milk of magnesia but I just saw in webmd something else. If you have mouth sores, rinse with a mixture of baking soda (1 tsp.) and water (8 oz.) a few times a day to relieve pain. I'm going to give it a try

DID YOU KNOW CATCHING A COLD IS DUE TO IMPAIRMENT OF THE IMMUNE SYSTEM

The most common way cold viruses are spread is not from being around coughing or sneezing, or walking barefoot in the rain, but rather from hand-to-hand contact. For instance, someone with a cold blows their nose then shakes your hand or touches surfaces that you also touch.
Cold viruses can live on pens, computer keyboards, coffee mugs and other objects for hours, so it's easy to come into contact with such viruses during daily life.
However, the key to remember is that just being exposed to a cold virus does not have to mean that you'll catch a cold. If your immune system is operating at its peak, it should actually be quite easy for you to fend off the virus without ever getting sick.
If your immune system is impaired, on the other hand, it's akin to having an open-door policy for viruses; they'll easily take hold in your body. So the simple and short answer is, you catch a cold due to impairment in your immune system. There are many ways this can result, but the more common contributing factors are:
  1. Eating too much sugar and too many grains
  2. Not getting enough rest
  3. Using insufficient strategies to address emotional stressors in your life
  4. Vitamin D deficiency, as discussed below
  5. Any combination of the above

HAIR LOSS

Another great side effect is losing hair.....I'm happy i have alot of hair, but it falls out like crazy. One thing that helps is biotin. I found that out when i had cancer and I used it to make my hair grow back faster it really works. now the top of my head is thinning so i still use it it could be either the disease or the meds.

LEG CRAMPS

I don't know if any of you suffer leg cramps but I have been battling this for years. Anyway Doctors had me on everything to help , but my body is sensitive to lots of different meds, and so my primary care doc told me to try magnesium. Well I have to tell you it really works. I have been taking it for a few months and not only does it help with the leg cramps but it make you relax so you can sleep. That's another issue!!!!! magnesium helps alot start off with 250 mgs then work your way up if you need to .
So anyway let me tell you when my doc advised me to try that he had already given me every med to take for sleeping and leg cramps and as a last resort told me to try it it's what his wife takes cause they go to all natural doctors......hahahaha how about that pretty funny stuff

WHEN I WAS DIAGNOSED

I was diagnosed back in 1997 I was in my late 30's. I had no idea what lupus was. I had a friend that had lupus and I automatically thought that I would be in the same shape she was, Let's just say she was in very shape but also had ra. So that was it I thought my life was over. Never expected to get that diagnoses. I was sick with a flu or virus for about two weeks so I decided to make an appointment with doc so I could get antibiotics to get better I was in bed about the whole two weeks and was so tired that I felt like I never slept at night. So anyway I was going to tell doc all the things I was going through. Honestly, I thought I was a hypochondriac. I was getting heart palpitations everyday it seemed to come during late afternoon. Always had sores in my mouth and my joints always hurt sometimes when I did too much I would hurt so bad I couldn't walk, and I always had a rash on my face when I was out to long little did I know all these were symptoms of lupus. I was never one that ran to doc for myself, but this time I said I was going to go and tell him everything. I did he listened and wrote it all down he sai could be either heart problems or connective tissue disease. I had no clue what that was went for all the testing and sure enough it was lupus. So anyway never think its all in your mind you could really have something serious. When I think back from when I was a child I had so many symptoms back then. I was always sick every summer I had fever throwing up my family used to make fun of me, my grandma used to take my long hair put it in braids and wrap it around my head and spent the summers in bed. then I used to always get sores in my mouth when I was little my grandma use to say I had a dirty stomach so she would wash my mouth out with milk of magnesia yes it helped, but that too is another sign of lupus. As a teenager I remember carrying my books and every so often my arms would give out and lose strength like I had no control over it, then in my 20's my dad use to tell me not to hang the clothes on the line in the freezing weather cause I was going to get arthritis. So when I moved to Florida and was working as a waitress my hands and arms were so so sore that I could not even drive to turn the wheel, so of course I just thought that was arthritis. No I must have been flaring big time. It was so bad once I could not get out of a chair and walk I literally gad to crawl it was so bad the pain that is. So going back to when I was diagnosed even though it felt like it was the end, it really was the beginning of a whole new way of life, because I never want to get to the point of not being able to walk or enjoy my family so I take very good care of myself and make sure I'm always listening to docs. You'd be surprised it can mean alot. Do lots of research and get lots of rest and eat right and learn your limitations let your" no mean no" Stress is also a very big factor so even though its hard not to stress try to do things to release the stress so you don't let it make you sick. Well I could keep going on but I'm tired now. talk to you soon

A GREAT WAY TO EXPLAIN LUPUS

Last year I started going to a psychologist and was explaining to him how I felt. First let me tell you it's not like I have been just diagnosed with lupus I have had it for years but recently I could not work anymore because of the way I was feeling (about a year ago) so docs all said I was depressed and sent me to shrink and psychologist to help me. anyway when I was talking to him he said you must have ran out of spoons. I had no clue what he was talking about so he told me when I get home to look up the spoon theory. So of course I did and he was right I had no spoons. Well let me tell you this girl Christina who wrote this, hit the nail on the head!!!! You must read what she wrote because then you will understand what people like me suffer and can't explain. Here is the site

STAYING AS HEALTHY AS POSSIBLE

They say staying as healthy as possible starts with you. Always have a positive attitude. Move as much as possible even if it means just getting up to go to the bathroom. Healthy eating very important and family can mean so much to your health. I am going to post lots of things that help me get through my days. So continue to keep looking hope I can be an encouragement.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

Did you know that apple cider vinegar has some great benefits. I was very impressed by some of them you can use it for energy, for weight loss, to lower blood pressure, great for stomach problems. It is even good if you have insomnia. One thing you should know is you need to buy raw apple cider vinegar. A really good one is Bragg apple cider vinegar. It is made by Patricia Bragg who has her own website but you can buy it at any whole food store. I'm adding a ling to see all the benefits of apple cider vinegar. I have to say it has been a real big help these past few weeks i have been suffering with exhaustion and inflammation of the joints and it really makes you feel better.
I guess that's why they say AN APPLE A DAY KEEPS THE DOCTOR AWAY
